Crystallization of struvite (MgNH4PO4·6H2O, MAPH) for both N and P recovery from municipal wastewater is an attractive alternative. The low magnesium concentration in calls low-cost sources. In the present work, precipitation supersaturated solutions was investigated. were prepared by addition either slurry Mg(OH)2 (brucite) obtained hydrothermal treatment oxide (MgO) or using aqueous solution equilibrated with brucite after separation solid. cases, ammonium dihydrogen phosphate, Mg:NH4:P ratio 1:1:1, pH 7.0–11.0. apparent order suggested that dominant mechanism surface diffusion according to polynuclear model. rate constant two orders magnitude smaller comparison respective brucite-equilibrated solution. Simulated (SWW), respect struvite, inoculation brucite. higher than corresponding SWW reached 70%.
